One day there was a hero called “Suparman”. He was walking on the street but suddenly he heard a voice “help…help….help. So he went to where the voice was and he tried to find it.

After that he decided to fly and crush the evil action in the earth. He said, “O yeah, this is my time to show! “woooosh”. He flew in the sky, looked at the earth to find someone who needed his help. But suddenly, he got an accident “JEDUK” ….wow…wow…wow… Ouch. His head hit something. Oh no actually he hit the body of an airplane which flew on the sky. His head was injured and then he said, “Oh no, sorry, Tomorrow I will be back to help you… wait me!” …ha..???

Ticket for UFO

One day there was an alien who flew with his UFO on the sky. Suddenly he saw the earth from the top of sky and he taught to take off his UFO on there. So he looked for a place to land. He went around and around on same places in the earth because it is so strange to him. After that he put his UFO at a yard. He went to take a walk to some places but there was an incident. He felt surprised because there was a man who gave him a ticket for parking. He felt so dizzy because he didn’t know that there was a parking ticket for his UFO. ..??? 

An Unlucky Prisoner

One day there was a prisoner that escaped from a jail when it was hard rain. He broke and damaged its wall. After that he ran away to the main road.

He walked away to the road slowly because it was rain. Due to hard rain, it made flood. The water volume increased and increased until it reached 2 meters. He ran fast. But he could not do because it was as tall as his chest and neck. It was so hard for him to walk. Moreover, he saw a car in front of him. It was about five meters. It was in the middle of the road. To make him safe, he walked to that car and reached its top. He didn’t know whose car it was. He sat on the roof of car. He waited and waited until it was normal again. He still sat on it the he slept because of so tired.

When he opened his eyes, he was so surprised and didn’t believe it. He was sat and slept on the roof of police’s car. It means that he would back to jail again. What a poor and unlucky prisoner.

Mr. Gembils

One day, an old man, Mr. Gembil was walking around his town. On the way he felt so tired because the weather was so hot.

When he was walking he saw and read a notice board beside the street. “Here is artificial rain place”. He was very happy about it then he walked in hurry to that place. He was not patient but when he walked for fifteen meters, he saw and felt rainwater. He thought that it was rain. But he was so surprised because he then knew that it was not rain anymore. The rain was splashing water that from Legislator candidate’s mouth when he spoke for campaign.

Spoof

Spoof has a social function. It retells an event with a humorous twist.

The generic (schematic) structure of a spoof text is below:

1. Orientation : sets the scene
2. Event(s) : tell what happened
3. Twist : provide the punch line

language features:
· focus on individual participants
· use of material processes
· circumstances of time and place
· use of past tense

Notes:
Material processes are verbs that show activities which can be seen, e.g. write, eat, walk etc
Material processes consist of DOING and HAPPENING.
DOING : create, make, build, develop, send, throw, strew, pour, dissolve etc
HAPPENING : move, fall, rise, come, go, soften, harden, melt etc

The plane was late and detectives waited at the airport all morning. They expected a valuable parcel of diamonds from South Africa. A few hours earlier, someone had told the police that thieves would try to steal the diamonds. When the plane arrived some of detectives waited inside the main building while others waited on the airfield. Two men took the parcel off the plane and carried into the Custom House. While two detectives kept guard at the door, two others opened the parcel. To their surprise, the precious parcel was full of stones and sand!

Green, Pink and Yellow

Orientation:
Can you name the colors in English? Yes, you are right. They are blue, red, yellow, green, white, brown, purple, black and so on. I have a funny story about the colours. Do you want to know it? ok let me tell you.

Events:
One day, an English teacher talked about colours to his students. After he had been explaining, he asked his students, “Who can make a sentence using the word, Green, Pink and Yellow?”
James, the smartest student in the class quickly raised his hand and answered, “When the yellow morning Sun comes, I see a beautiful girl wearing a pink clothe walking through the green grass”.
“Excellent. James, you are a very good student” the teacher said.

Twist:
“Me, me Sir”. Johny, the lazy student in the class said while raising his hand. And then he said, “I heard telephone ringing green, green, then I pink up the receiver and I said, “Yellow, who is speaking there?

Language features:
· The use of action verbs
(e.g. walked, laughed, ran away etc)
· The use of connectives
(e.g. first. Then, finally etc)
· The use of adverbial phrases of time and place
(e.g. in the garden, two days ago)
· The use of the simple past tense
(e.g. he walked away from the village)
